CU Denver Faculty Training and Events

Our teacher empathy as educators is a key component to student success and has gained more attention since the recent pandemic. Our empathy is multifaceted and includes how we understand students’ needs or circumstances, our ability to “feel” what the student is going through, and how we communicate and set course policies which demonstrate empathy yet still prioritize student learning. 

Participants in this two-week, self-paced course will explore and reflect on teacher empathy and discover how it can be one of the most positive influences on student success. At the end of the two-week course we invite you to join your facilitator and other participants for a virtual wrap-conversation and explore complex scenarios together. You can choose either hot chocolate or tea to accompany this “cozy conversation” (a free gift sent to you)!

The wrap-up conversation will take place via Zoom on Friday, February 9 from 12:00-1:00pm.

Facilitator: Sarah North, PhD is a Lecturer in the School of Education and Human Development. She developed this course as part of her work as a TIPS Faculty Fellow during the 2023-2024 school year.
